White Sands National Monument is the largest gypsum dune field in the world.
It lies a few miles south of Alamogordo, NM at 4200 ft. elevation.
The gate doesn’t open until 8:00 am, so early spring, just before daylight savings time begins, is best for morning photography. The rangers don’t make you leave until after sunset.
Those are the facts. I go there for the beautiful curves, lines, and textures.
I usually “think” in black and white when I’m there and hope for dramatic clouds.
I’m satisfied with the images I got this past March. I found a little bit of everything.
Beautiful images from white sands!
