The Great Schooner Race

Every year around Independence Day over two dozen schooners race from Ilsesboro to Rockland in the Great Schooner Race. This was the second year that I was fortunate enough to secure a place on the schooner “Olad” which sails from Camden, Maine. The day started well with a steady breeze that continued to freshen as raced toward Rockland, Maine.

Unfortunately, the breeze totally died about mid-afternoon and the race was called with no winner in our class.
It was still a great time and a good photo-op. I can’t wait until next year.
